Business-Initiated Conversations

There are three types of business-initiated conversations:

  • Marketing Conversations: Include promotions, offers, welcome or closing messages, updates, invitations, recommendations, or requests for feedback or action.
  • Authentication Conversations: These allow businesses to authenticate users through one-time passcodes, often at various login steps.

These business-initiated messages require:

  • Pre-approved messaging templates for Utility, Marketing, and Authentication categories.
  • Active user opt-in.
  • Businesses can send rich communication such as text, images, videos, documents, and interactive elements like list messages and quick replies.

Service Conversations

  • Service Conversations occur when a business responds to a user-initiated message.
  • These conversations are free within the 24-hour window.
  • Businesses and users can exchange an unlimited number of messages during this time.
  • Supported message types include text, images, documents, videos, audio files, and locations.
  • No opt-in or pre-approved templates are needed for service conversations.
